A Venture Capitalist in the hedge fund world
Fred Wilson is the founder of New York-based Union Square Ventures, an early-stage venture firm that’s achieved a US$1B+ exit each year since 2011 – including Tumblr, Twitter, Lending Club, and Etsy. He also writes AVC, the most popular morning read among ‘elite VCs’ based on guests from The Twenty Minute VC podcast. With a background in more traditional technology ventures, it was interesting to read this morning that he’d taken positions in two upcoming hedge funds, investing in the management company of one, and both the management company and fund of another. On particular interest was Numerai, which he described as “a new kind of hedge fund that allows machine learning experts all over the world to crowdsource public market investments by building models and sharing the selections that come out of their models.” Read the full blog here: (VIEW LINK)
