Apple vs Microsoft and the new tech threat - Stuart Miles, CEO of UK tech website Pocket-Lint.com. As Apple and Microsoft fight for market share, Stuart Miles, CEO and Founder of UK tech website Pocket-Lint.com believes Apple is becoming a lifestyle hardware brand, while Microsoft is focusing more on its cloud and software services. Apple's earnings announcements show iPad sales have stalled, as consumers feel less urge to upgrade. Apple also hinted towards new products, with investors anticipating the release of AppleTV and iWatch. Microsoft's earnings reports suggest a shift away from hardware such as XBOX and Nokia, towards a software ecosystem. Given Apple's strong growth in BRIC countries, a major threat is Xiaomi, a Chinese electronics producer of high-quality consumer electronics such as smartphones.
