Four emerging leaders in a market primed for growth
To be a great investor, you must be able to do something differently. Can you pick stocks in a more rigorous way than others? Do you have a system that allows you to identify opportunities that may otherwise go under the radar? Even if you cannot do either of those things, perhaps you know where the better entry and exit points are.
For Daniel Graña, portfolio manager for emerging market equities at Janus Henderson Investors, competitive advantage is found by investing in stocks that are not included in the major benchmarks.
Many investors who work in global markets tend to hug the stocks found in global benchmark indices (think of the ones run by MSCI, S&P etc.). However, Graña believes these benchmark indices tend to misprice the future.
"The benchmark provider is at best, lazy, and at worst, shows a lack of imagination. There are a lot of great ideas that they miss," he says.
So where do the best opportunities reside if they are not easily found?
Graña recently joined me for a conversation about the power of emerging markets and the process he uses to find the best stocks. He also provides several ideas of his own.
