In the wake of last Friday's buoyant OzForex debut Nathan Bell of Intelligent Investor raises three lessons that have emerged from McAleese Transport's delayed $155 million IPO. Bell writes, every investment entails risks that we'll never foresee, no matter how hard we think or how much research we do. Or if we do predict them, our timing may be so far off as to render any action a mistake anyway. In the case of McAleese Transport, Bell argues, the risk that one of it's vehicles would be involved in an a tragic accident was slim but still very real. Whilst many investors will be drawn into the market through fear of missing out, Bell notes that very few businesses that float go on to become great companies.
