Newzulu, a highly innovative and global crowd sourced newswire company hits the ASX today under the code NWZ (via a backdoor listing). The company allows citizen journalists to share photos and videos with the major news-agencies world-wide, and be compensated for their efforts. It is managed by former Young Australian of the Year, Alex Hartman. Hartman says there was a time when a professional journalist, photographer, camera-man or satellite truck would always be the first to cover a news event. That's now never the case. There's always someone with a smart phone there first. News organisations need a way to harness those smart phones via a news gathering network - which is really what Newzulu is.
