Nick Griffin: Looking at Australia through offshore eyes
Nick Griffin from K2 Asset Management is based in the UK and provides his views on the outlook for Australia through an offshore lens. Griffin explains that the free-floating currency has absorbed a lot of the shock to the Australian economy of falling commodity prices and the Chinese slowdown. This currency readjustment has secondary implications for the property market in Griffin’s view, “it’s hard to see the housing market collapsing when the houses just got 40% cheaper for your average Chinese or offshore investor”. This video contains a full explanation of the above views as well as some insight into the effects of disruption on the banking and retail sectors.
