Releasing the pressure-valve on the investible universe
Inflation has emerged as the word on everyone's lips as economies reopen and stimulus continues to flow. But Jasmin Argyrou, portfolio manager and director at Credit Suisse believes that many of the concerns are exactly that: inflated.
Inflation has appeared for the past 10 years, just not in the goods and services we consume. Instead, argues Argyrou, inflation has appeared in the investible universe including houses, equities, bonds, art, vintage wines and even cryptocurrencies. We shouldn't be too concerned about "runaway inflation" because we've already released the pressure valve on inflation, she told us in the video below.
A return to normal levels of inflation is good for investors and risk assets. In this video, Jasmin highlights that context is crucial when using the inflation outlook to make investment decisions and unpacks the distortive effects of our vigorous V-shaped recovery.
