Revisiting the Chinese Tourism Wave
NAOS
The number of Chinese tourists visiting Australia has strengthened over the past 12 months. Since touching on the topic just over a year ago we have seen the number of Chinese tourists rise by +18%. The continued popularity of Australia as a tourist destination by Chinese nationals is strongly supported by growth in levels of household disposable income (now sitting at US $4,694), an increase in the number of seats being offered by China Southern and China Air on the popular routes of Sydney-Beijing and Sydney - Gangzhou (a total increase of ~111, 000), a falling Australian dollar and the sustained appetite of Chinese nationals to visit Australia (ranked #1 on destination 'wish list', per a recent survey).
