Telecommunications sector overview

Nick Harris, Senior Analyst at Morgans, provides an overview on some of the shifting dynamics in the telecommunications sector. At the big end of town Harris highlights that the battle grounds have very much been around mobile telecommunications. Telstra has been investing significantly in their network which provides the best coverage in Australia. As a result they have been dominating the mobile market. However, Harris points to two interesting comments made recently by the Vodafone CEO 1) They have just finished a $3billion investment project in their network which is now up to standard 2) For the first time in 5 years Vodafone have stopped losing clients. Harris says a more competitive landscape is likely to emerge at the big end.
