The OECD has issued a challenge to world leaders to price carbon, putting pressure on Tony Abbott's plan to remove the carbon tax in Australia. In a call to industrialised countries, the OECD said that climate change had no bailout option like a financial crisis and that there was strong consensus that carbon pricing should be the cornerstone of tackling the issue. The Climate Institute's John Connor said this was significant given the IMF and World Bank had given similar warnings only days earlier. He said his is a blinding backdrop against which Australia may be the first country in the world to dismantle a carbon tax and an explicit carbon price. (VIEW LINK)
