Walmart's part-time hiring spree reflects the state of the economy. All around the United States, Walmart added new workers to its stores. However, most of these workers were part-time and had fewer hours and benefits than full-time staff. This is a pretty good representation of America's economy: things are getting better and businesses need more workers, but companies aren't optimistic enough to make major investments. Walmart is also using this approach to avoid the costs of providing healthcare, which could happen more frequently as American companies prepare for the launch ofObamacare. (VIEW LINK)
