Watch: 5 shocking predictions for 2025 and beyond
Note: This is a recording of the "5 shocking predictions" segment from the recent Livewire Live event, which took place on Tuesday 17 September 2024.
Looking beyond market behaviour and taking an analytical approach can help uncover a range of unexpected opportunities. In light of this, five experts shared their ‘shocking’ predictions for 2025 and beyond at Livewire Live.
Three of the five panellists took on the megatrends debate. Claremont Global's Bob Desmond focused specifically on the market hype around Artificial Intelligence while Vihari Ross of Antipodes Partners argued that the energy transition will be even more powerful as an investment theme than AI.
But QVG Capital's Josh Clark went one better and argued, "There's always a theme that's alive and well" - but that thematic investing as a strategy is not the right way to outperform the broader market. Watch that one just for the slide that got everyone chuckling.
Outside of thematics, Matthew Kidman of Centennial Asset Management posited that we are in the last legs of an unprecedented bull market that has lasted twice as long as a conventional one. And Kellie Wood of Schroders shared why she believes time may be about to run out for the American economy.
