What these 3 investors learned in 2024

It's our last show of the season and 'tis the season to be thinking about the year it's been.

Monday's episode will mark the end of the third season of Signal or Noise - and for this show, the end of what has been an absolutely remarkable year in financial markets.

Back on February 5th, we released the first episode of the season entitled "Will the Goldilocks market continue in 2024?". At the time, there were many reasons to believe that financial markets - and in particular, risk assets - were going to meet a reckoning this year. The risk of a global recession was genuinely significant, interest rate cuts were priced in but far from guaranteed, and after the S&P 500 rallied 24% in 2023, there was no chance that it would repeat the same thing in 2024.

Well, all three of these consensus predictions were upset and then some.

But it didn't come without its bumps along the way - the August "sharp sneeze" (as we've come to describe it in the Livewire office) jolted investors wide awake for 24 hours and caught more than a few people on the hop.

So what did we learn this year? And what might be coming next year? Join us for the last Signal or Noise Sneak Peek of 2024 with yours truly and the panel:

Note: This Sneak Peek was taped on Wednesday 4 December 2024. The full episode will be out on Monday 9 December 2024.
