One measure of Board effort is Board Work Rate. Over a five year period it is possible to build up a picture of what the Board's typical work rate is (full board and committee meetings). When crisis strikes (think in terms of opportunity or a negative event) you would expect to see a change in the workload to accommodate this event. Santos full Board typically has 10 meetings a year: last year it had 16 meetings. However only two of the eight directors who were in their roles for all of the 16 meetings attended all 16. One director attended only 10 of the 16, while the two directors seeking re-election at this year's AGM attended 13 of the 16. If ever there was a year to not miss a Board meeting at Santos, 2015 would have been the year. Santos 2016 AGM is on Wednesday 4 May 2016.
