Ben Griffiths tells investors to sit on good quality stories
In our recent interview with Ben Griffiths, Portfolio Manager at Eley Griffiths Group, had a some words of advice for all investors, “the real money is made in our business in sitting on good quality stories over the duration and not day trading in and out.” Ben highlighted that he drew inspiration for this investment theory form a book written in 1923, Reminisce of a Stock Operator. In this book the author Edwin Lefevre has a timeless lesson for all investors “after spending many years in Wall Street and after making and losing millions of dollars I want to tell you this, it never was my thinking that made me the big money, it was always my sitting, got that, my sitting tight”. Ben’s advice to review companies, look at the models and if appropriately priced buy and hold good value stocks through rough patches is important to keep front of mind in what could be a noisy end to 2015.
