'Direct from the Desk': A brand new podcast series to bring alpha to your returns
Finding an edge in markets is important, but translating that edge into bankable profits is the real key. Over the next six weeks, Market Matters will help to find you that edge with a deep dive into six stocks that we believe will deliver you bankable profits.
In a brand new Podcast Series, Direct From The Desk, I will be chatting with one analyst per week covering a stock that we both agree will add alpha to your returns.
Each Wednesday we’ll release a new podcast that provides a deep dive into a company that has passed the Market Matters filtering process and aligns with our macro-economic thinking.
The investment universe is broad and in this series we'll focus across the spectrum covering small, mid & large-cap companies that are attractively priced relative to their future earnings potential. Understanding the future earnings of a company and buying those future earnings on a sensible multiple taking into consideration the current macro backdrop is the foundation of the Market Matters approach.
The series will have a heavy skew towards understanding the drivers of earnings and why an opportunity exists that is not being fully reflected in current market pricing.
True to the Market Matters open minded approach, some stocks covered in the series are what would be described as ‘contrarian calls’, companies that have had a tough period that scream value, while others are stocks that have been kicking goals yet the momentum remains strong.
Having unrivaled access to a team of analysts that cover a broad spectrum of the Australian market is a unique proposition. The Market Matters team draws on that insight while applying their own investment style to unearth investment opportunities across the portfolios.
Direct From The Desk kicks off this week with non-bank lender Wisr (WZR). With a market capitalization of just ~$270m and a medium-term loan book target of $1b, WZR is a stock positioned for long-term growth.
The largest shareholder has just filed up while Moody’s has recently recognised the quality of their loan book. I will be joined by Senior Analyst Danny Younis.
