Equity Market Engineer | US rate cycle trumps Aussie yield trade for now
Market view: We maintain a bullish long term view on the Australian equity market with the 12 month index target level of 5850. We see substantial risk on the global markets with US Fed looking to raise rates in mid-March. We see substantial upside for the markets if the US Fed turns dovish to keep rates flat in the mid March meeting. If the US Fed maintains the rate rise outlook and puts up the rates in March, we expect another leg down on more growth risks. We see short term upside in gold equities on market risk and old media equities on industry consolidation as regulatory reach rules are changed. (VIEW LINK)
