Goldman Sachs' Richard Coppleson says that markets right now are reacting in a similar way to the US government shutdown as it did 17 years ago during the 1995-1996 shutdown. The S&P500 dropped 3.7% in the period leading up to the 1995 shutdown before rallying a massive 10.6% after the shutdown.
