The ABS Building Approvals data for September was out yesterday and it was an ugly release, with approvals plummeting in the month. In particular apartment approvals plunged suggesting that the cyclical peak in approvals has now passed, which is moderately adverse news for construction and the economy. We take a look here at the key data and which cities, regions and suburbs have been guilty of overbuilding apartments in this cycle and as such are exposed to the possibility of a price correction.
