PortfolioDirect
The latest PortfolioDirect rating reviews are of Nexus Minerals, Lemur Resources, Venture Minerals and Highfield Resources. Coincidentally, all four companies are illustrations of the chameleon-like qualities of the Australian miners proving that what you buy is not necessarily what you end up getting. Of the four, the first three have hit strategic dead-ends and are trying to reinvent themselves. Highfield Resources quickly dropped the reason for its listing in 2012 to develop potash properties in Spain. My recent comments on 4 November and 29 October drew attention to some market risks but Highfield Resources is the highest rated of the four companies covered in this round of reports. The more important investment decision for a potential Highfield investor is not whether there is a value proposition (because there is) but how it fares in investment markets as it enters the no-man's land between successful explorer and mine operator. This is a stage of development in which investment returns are prone to disappear no matter how strong they might be eventually.
