World Cup Final: Potential for ‘all or nothing’ affair
Livewire
This weekend Australia and New Zealand will meet in a Rugby World Cup final for the first time in history. Alone this stands as an historic event for these two great rugby nations. However, there is a rising chorus calling for the ARU and more importantly, the NZRU, to make the Rugby World Cup final a spectacular 'all or nothing' affair, where both the Web Ellis Cup and the Bledisloe Cup should be on the line. It is obviously a unique scenario in the sense that in 2015 the All Blacks and the Wallabies are 1 game all (each having won at home) and there is a now third game in the calendar year (which ordinarily would be a decider) on a neutral ground. It would be farcical if the Wallabies won the World Cup, had beaten NZ two games to one and still did not hold the Bledisloe. The Australian (VIEW LINK) (paywall) and the New Zealand press (VIEW LINK) have run with the concept, the question remains.. Are the All Blacks willing to go ‘double or nothing’? #bledisloedecider
